Although The Good System may seem like it is a fairy tale, real problems exist.

The climate crisis is one of them, another is sickness.

This article is about, how does The Good Healthcare System helps people that are sick or handicapped?

How The Good Healthcare System works

The Good System does have a sophisticated healthcare system. It does help you stay healthy.

But sometimes it is not possible. You may have an accident, or a disease, or you may be handicapped in one way or another.

How does The Good Healthcare System help you in these situations?

If you need help, it must be available, and it may not cost you much.

In The Good System, we develop a good healthcare system, that assures you the best medical help possible.

  • If you have an accident, the ambulance is there as fast as possible and the nearest hospital is not far away.
  • If you feel sick, a doctor or medical center is in your neighborhood, and you do not have to wait for long.
  • If you have a chronic disease or are handicapped, you get the therapy you require.

All this doesn’t cost you extra.

How The Good Healthcare System is financed

You pay social security, that finances the good healthcare system. You pay more, if you smoke, or use another drug. If you don’t do sport regularly or are obese. This does not apply if it is due to illness.

And there is a tax on unhealthy things like cigarettes, alcohol or unhealthy food.

If you have a car, you also pay an annual tax because car drivers are commonly more unhealthy.

If you do sport, where you can get hurt easily, you may pay an accident insurance.

It is important that you do not have extra cost if you need help.

People often avoid going to the doctor, if they are afraid, they end in a pile of debt. It saves the system money, if people go to the doctor in time, because typically, it is easier and cheaper to help people in an early stage.

Everyone must get the best treatment possible, there may be not be a two class health system.

The only thing that costs extra are treatments, that are not medical necessary but the patient wants. Plastic surgery, for example.

A barrier-free world

Not only costs are a barrier we lower with The Good Healthcare System. Everyday life is full of barriers, if you have a medical condition or are handicapped.

Designing streets, buildings, and transportation so everyone can use them is part of a good health system.

It shows how interconnected everything is, and that infrastructure is an important part of a working system.

Although there is one issue with barrier-free infrastructure. For example, if you build an elevator, people will use it, even if they could easily take the stairs.

The advantage of living in a walkable environment is lost.

So it must be designed that it is favorable for healthy people to take the stairs, while handicapped people can also easily access the infrastructure.

Take care

If you are sick for a week, you may not need someone to take care of you. Although if you do not have someone, who is there for you, you can get everything you require delivered. If you like, a public medical care worker can check on you.

But there are people who require permanent care. There are several possibilities for them in The Good Healthcare System.

If they can stay at home, they will either have access to a nurse, who comes to them occasionally, or even stays with them 24/7. Working conditions and laws protect the nurses from burnout or other issues. They will also have a high income.

In The Good Healthcare System, it’s also possible that a family member takes care of the patient. They will also get compensated. They attend courses and get occasional help from a nurse.

If people can’t or don’t want to stay at home. They are entitled to live in a medical or social care facility. There they have everything they need.

Depending on how much care they require, their stay is either free or they pay a contribution.

Conclusion

In our current system, health issues are often money issues.

You may not be able to afford the best treatment or in the worst-case treatment at all.

You are generally speaking more unhealthy if you are poorer. Because cheap food is typically unhealthy, and you live in an unhealthy environment.

That’s why in The Good Healthcare System we have to make money a non-issue and why I talk about money so much in this article.

Everyone must have access to the best medical care possible indecent of their income.

By taxing unhealthy things, we can use money to promote a healthy lifestyle. You are free to do unhealthy things, if you like, but with your personal freedom comes personal responsibility.

Another issue is infrastructure. Not only must it be barrier-free, where possible. Furthermore, medical facilities must be easily reachable for everyone.

A good healthcare system is expensive, that’s why in many countries it is the biggest cost factor. That’s also the reason, why the healthcare system in many countries got worse over the last decades. Governments cut the spending, although the costs rise because of the changing demographics.

In The Good System we take care of everyone. Nobody is left behind. This makes us as a global community stronger.
